Responsibilities

Forklift Operations

Safety is the main objective.

  • Conduct daily inspection of lift truck, utilizing provided checklist.
  • Driving with more than two pallets is prohibited.
  • Stop at all intersections before you continue to drive.
  • The forks should be down (1-inch above the floor) while driving.
  • Use the parking brake whenever the forklift is not in use.

Put-aways

  • Retrieve and transport pallets from production and receiving dock.
  • Place finished goods and raw materials in correct warehouse locations.

Picking

  • Read picking list (order).
  • Retrieve correct items from warehouse.
  • After order is set-up, print packing list.
  • Stage order in staging area.

Shipping

  • Ensure trailer is locked to the dock or its wheels are chocked.
  • Conduct trailer inspection (report any damage).
  • Retrieve and review packing list (order).
  • Determine sequence of loading carrier, what items go first and last, and items get cancelled or back ordered.
  • Load the carrier (determine if a floor load, pallet load, etc.).
  • Drivers must sign for pieces counted.
  • Inform driver that carrier loading is complete and return the corresponding copies to the driver.

Receiving

  • Verify count before signing the receipt.
  • Report and document any discrepancy between the paperwork and actual material.
  • Report and document any damaged material.
  • Distribute the material to the appropriate department.

Housekeeping

  • Re-stack and organize items neatly.
  • Sweep warehouse dock and dump garbage.
