Shipping & Receiving Attendant$19 - $21 Wolcott, NY Job Summary It is the responsibility of the Shipping/Receiving Attendant l to, under direct supervision, learn and follow prescribed procedures for receiving and inventorying incoming eggs and packaging materials, palletizing product coming from packing plant, accurately assembling egg orders, and loading trucks in such manner to minimize any damage to eggs in transit. Job Responsibilities It is the responsibility of the Shipping/Receiving Attendant I to learn Kreher's pre-established shipping/receiving and palletizing procedures and guidelines, and while working under direct supervision:
- Check paperwork before unloading, counting all items to make sure they match the paperwork.
- Inspect all items for damage. Report all damage to a supervisor immediately.
- Make sure incoming product is put away in the correct place.
- Label all incoming product with a run number or date received.
- Keep coolers, dock and warehouse clean and organized (wash trucks, sweep floors, etc.)
- Ensure all pallets and racks are wrapped securely.
- Before loading a truck, work with supervisor to map out the load.
- Make sure the truck is clean and odor free.
- Secure dock plate before loading. Cardboard must be used under flat plates to avoid slipping.
- Double check invoices and load sheets to be sure correct items are being placed on the pallet.
- When building pallets, ensure proper rotation (first in, first out).
- Record run numbers on the load sheets and invoices, and initial all invoices.
- Make sure all pallets and racks are wrapped securely before loading.
- Handle all products carefully. If any damage occurs, report all damages to a supervisor, and do not ship damaged product.
- Load trucks using load bars and straps.
- Make sure all trucks are locked if they are moved away from the dock.
- Assist in other areas as required
If assigned palletizing tasks:
- Learn to communicate with the middle person/operator on the correct orders and amounts to be run.
- When palletizing the cases, ensure that the cases are correctly stamped, dated and closed.
- Learn to stack cases straight and square on the pallet, stamps and stickers facing outward.
- When the pallets are full, move the product into their proper location and label correctly.
- Know what we are packing and how many of each we need. Number each pallet consecutively - mark run number on bottom of case of each pallet.
- Keep work area clean.
- Check tape level and taper operation on a frequent basis.
- Place a piece of cardboard on the bottom of every pallet. Additionally, place a piece on the third row of half cases and the fourth row of EB's.
