SHIPPING/RECEIVING CLERK

JOB DESCRIPTION

**JOB SUMMARY**

The shipping/receiving clerk is responsible for recording shipments, handling inbound/outbound paperwork, maintaining inventory, packaging product, and arranging pick-up/drop-off that are handled by third-party vendors. The shipping/receiving clerk will partner with the operations, sales, purchasing and finance to meet company objectives.

**JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Recording Shipments**

* Accurate shipment and delivery information are vital. The shipping/receiving clerk note such information in our ERP system, Encompix, for the company to maintain up-to-date records of what was sent to which customer, what shipments the employer received, and the day and time items went out or came in.

* Verify parts/quantities match purchase orders and notify/distribute to the proper party involved.

**Handling Inbound and Outbound Paperwork**

* Proper labels with correct postage are a must for shipments to be delivered correctly. The shipping/receiving clerk completes a Bill of Lading for each outbound package. Additionally, noting any special delivery instructions, including mention of fragile or hazardous contents.

* Any issues with received goods need to immediately be brought to the attention of the purchaser/CSR

**Maintaining Inventory**

* The shipping/receiving clerk may be responsible for physically taking items from the companys stock to fill orders. Likewise, they may unpack incoming objects and place them in the proper locations throughout the warehouse.

* Create re-stocking lists with part numbers, quantities, and Vendor required.

* Occasionally engage in correspondence with vendors for quotes to refill stock as needed.

* Work with management to adjust inventory levels as needed

**Packaging**

* The shipping/receiving clerk may put purchased merchandise in boxes or other shipping containers. They decide on the best placement and cushioning so that items stay safe during their journey to the customer. Additionally, maintain the companys packaging supplies and order more as needed.

**Arranging Pick-Up and Drop-Off**

* If packages are being handled by a third-party service such as UPS, FedEx or a contract hauler. The shipping/receiving clerk schedule and monitor the exchange. Local deliveries may be requested.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**

* High school diploma

* 5-7 years of warehouse related experience preferred

* Experience using a forklift and professional forklift certification is required

* Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred

* Rigging experience is preferred due to the uniqueness of loading and unloading

**SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS**

* Experience working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

* High sense of urgency

* Positive can do attitude

* Good written and verbal communication skills.

* Strong sense of time organization and urgency.

* Able to work independently and within a team.

* Personal accountability and integrity are paramount, as a shipping clerk is tasked with an accurate accounting of all inventory

* Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.

* Must be able to lift 50 lbs and will be expected to move material in inclement weather

* Knowledge of basic hand tools

* Comfortability of handling expensive/oversized equipment/pallets

* Maintaining accurate inventory levels that matches our ERP (Encompix)

* Maintaining a clean, organized, and lean workspace

* Achieving order accuracy at 100%

* Reducing transportation cost

* Maintaining clear and organization documentation
