Job Description Sunbury company in need of a Shipping / Receiving Clerk Summary: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments and confers or corresponds with establishment personnel to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications. Delivers or routes materials to departments. Determines shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. Examines shipment contents and compares with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment. Packs, seals, labels, and affixes postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter. Prepares documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders to route materials. Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes. Requisitions and stores shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock. Operates tier lift truck or uses handtruck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge: Knowledge of various freight software including UPS, Fed-Ex and DHL. Both fast pick up and ability to walk quickly Good computer skills and ability to query, monitor and input ERP system data Able to work with multiple priorities and people Strong attention to detail, organization and time management skills Ability to professionally communicate and work with others Attendance / Punctuality Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time. Communication Skills The ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally with all levels of supervision on the status of jobs. Information Ordering The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.G., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations). Manual Dexterity The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. Near Vision The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Reading Comprehension The ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. Safety and Security Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
