This position's primary focus will be on all activities related to receiving and shipping. Additional focus areas will be international shipment processing, RMA processing for the Environmental team, and production control activities for the Eden Prairie Panel Shop.Responsibilities
  • When receiving parts, verify the correct part associated with the packing list; work with the Purchasing team to resolve any discrepancies. Track discrepancies weekly for dissemination in the Purchasing team meeting. Participate in problem resolution and long-term corrective action (where applicable) with suppliers
  • Give day-to-day work direction to permanent and/or contract Shipping & Receiving personnel
  • Sign for all shipments as they arrive. Monitor incoming material for damage and make use of the Freight Incident Reporting form on Purchasing Sharepoint as needed. Participate in internal and external discussions regarding proactively avoiding freight damage. Initiate and manage freight claims with carriers
  • Attend weekly Environmental/Panel Shop team meetings and record action items for Purchasing. Serve as liaison between project managers/shop personnel and the Purchasing group regarding part shortages and discrepancies
  • Manage RMA processing with the following steps:
    • Identify defective or excess components with the Project Manager
    • Determine purchase order # and supplier, then request RMA
    • Secure parts to be returned (locked cart)
    • Add the appropriate lines to the purchase order
    • Ensure components are properly returned to the supplier and that credit is received
  • Process international shipments per work instructions on the Purchasing Sharepoint page. Save data in the appropriate folder location. Participate in external training to keep skills current and maintain appropriate procedures
  • Maintain training in ERP PO creation and maintenance for use with freight broker POs and RMA lines
  • Enter all parts into the inventory system
  • Label parts with job number and place on the job shelf
  • Stage parts for production workers per bill of material before the starting of a job. Work with the Production Supervisor to efficiently manage the storage space available
  • Manage Supplied By POs (parts supplied by the client, parts supplied by other business units, and parts supplied within MCCs) for the Production team
  • Use proper labels for shipping and special handling requirements
  • Ensure that items are prepared correctly for shipment by proper use of shipping materials such as cardboard, shrink wrap, and pallets
  • Process UPS shipments in WorldShip and tender to UPS driver. Participate in periodic reviews with UPS personnel. Assist other business units with the deployment of UPS WorldShip or CampusShip. Process FedEx shipments as needed
  • Organize and ship promotional items as requested by Eden Prairie team members
  • Participate on process improvement teams as needed
  • Maintain shop stock levels
  • Manage printer paper inventory for the Eden Prairie office and place POs with Innovative Office Solutions for additional supply
  • Keep the work area clean and maintain a safe working environment. Participate in the WME Safety Committee
  • Keep forklift certification current. Undertake participation in UPS HazMat seminar so the team can properly ship hazardous goods. US DOT recurrent training requirement is every three years for shippers
Minimum Requirements
  • Education - High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently with little or no supervision, and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Physical Demands Ability to perform all job responsibilities. Able to lift up to 50 lbs.Working Conditions Equipment assembly environment: cement floor with floor padding provided as needed. May be dust in the area from the type of equipment environment setting.
