Shipping/Yard Dog/Forklift Operator-Poultry Production - Onin Staffing : Job Details

General Description

This position is responsible for operating electric powered sit-down forklift to move, stack, load, or unload materials, finished goods, etc. You will be ON and OFF the forklift.

• 2nd shift is 4:00pm-1:30 am M-F some Saturdays
• Physical activity through standing for 10-11 hours
• Exposure to cold temperatures
• Shuttle trailers between dock doors, staging areas, or other locations within the yard.
• Wrapping pallets
• Must be able to lift 40lbs
• Must have steel toe boots

Essential Duties

• Responsible for transporting goods from one location to another in a safe and controlled manner.
• Moves material to and from storage and production areas, loads docks & delivery vehicles by forklift, hand and other equipment.
• Receives written or oral instructions for work assignments, determines applicable material and equipment needs.
• Attaches identifying tags to material and/or marks them with pertinent information.
• Carries out general housekeeping duties such as sweeping and picking up discarded material.
• Confers with leads and/or supervisors to report material conditions that could result in production or customer problems.
• Assists in proper loading and unloading of customer material.
• Visually inspects all equipment (i.e., forklifts, cranes, etc.) for any safety or mechanical problems before operation.
• May assist with training new forklift operator employees.
• Verify load accuracy, check load counts, stability, product damages & report variances.
• Prepare product for shipment ensuring the exact number and types of products that are being loaded.

• You must have 1-2 year of experience in a Shipping Dept./Forklift Operator/Yard Dog Role
• A certified forklift operator is preferred or Must have experience.
• Skills related to trailer maneuvering, logistics operations, and safety protocols.
• Knowledge of yard operations, understanding how to coordinate trailer movement with warehouse or dock operations.
• Experience in physically demanding roles, as the position often requires climbing in and out of trucks, connecting/disconnecting trailers, and working outdoors.
