George Fox University's Plant Services department is in search of an experienced, highly skilled, and motivated individual to serve as a full-time Shop and Hardscape Maintenance Technician.
About the Job:
The Shop and Hardscape Maintenance Technician is a highly diversified position, and is responsible for performing maintenance and minor repair of the university's groundskeeping machinery and equipment, combined with the periodic maintenance of all outdoor hardscape features on the university campus.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Maintenance and minor repair of groundskeeping equipment and other related machinery including, but not limited to: Tractors, construction equipment, utility vehicles, mowers, pressure washers, chainsaws, and other outdoor power equipment.
* Regular street sweeper operation, along with other vehicles and equipment on and off campus.
* Maintaining and painting traffic markings, including curbs, concrete, and asphalt markers in traffic and pedestrian areas.
* Pressure washing and cleaning of outdoor hardscape features such as walkways, stairs, and patios.
* Monitoring and maintenance of storm drains and catch basin systems.
* Assisting with weather related emergencies and operating snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow from sidewalks and roadways.
* Maintaining a clean and safe work environment at all times.
* Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
* By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
* Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
* Other duties as assigned.
A day in the life of this position:
The Shop and Hardscape Maintenance Technician in the Plant Services department will be responsible for performing regular maintenance of university-owned groundskeeping and construction equipment, in combination with seasonal and periodic painting and striping of curbs and traffic markings on the university campus. Additional duties will include regular operation of street sweeping and pressure washing equipment, along with other vehicles and machinery. This position will often involve a great deal of variety from day to day. All of the necessary training, tools, and support will be provided to both assist the applicant in being successful in their role and to provide opportunities for future growth.
We're looking for candidates who have:
* A strong and consistent work ethic, combined with the desire to learn and acquire new skills.
* A valid Driver's License, combined with a clean driving record and the ability to pass the University Driver Certification.
* Experience with the proper use of hand and power tools.
* Experience with operation and maintenance of agricultural, industrial, and/or other outdoor power equipment.

* Hours Per Week: 40 hours per week, 12 months of the year

* Working Conditions: Indoors and out-of-doors, year round. Physical requirements could include lifting more than 50 pounds and performing any activities such as balancing, bending/stooping, climbing stairs, crawling, crouching, climbing ladders, kneeling, repetitive motion or reaching above shoulder level.
