Perform any combination of various custom fabrication techniques of sheet metal, plate, and structural steel based on individual project specifications including but not limited to: layout, cutting, forming, rolling, fitting and welding. These duties must be performed in a safe and timely manner with the highest quality possible.Job Responsibilities:* Work closely with shop production superintendent to insure daily and project related production needs are met safely and efficiently.* Complete designated role in simple to complex custom fabrication projects from prints or sketches as designated by shop production superintendent with minimal direction of layout or fitting process.* Working knowledge of how to safely and efficiently operate all fabrication shop equipment such as mechanical shears, press brakes, rollers, ironworkers, drill presses, saws, and forklifts.* Proficient in MIG/TIG welding processes on carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum material.* Proficient in operation and use of hand held cutting torch and plasma cutter.* Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other shop personnel to effectively meet production goals based on project schedules.* Work closely with Thompson Quality team to confirm all shop-produced parts are fabricated to meet or exceed project specifications.* Ability to think creatively and apply results to safely and efficiently complete tasks.* Responsible for observing and complying with all standard and shop specific safety procedures.* Maintain work area in clean and tidy manner.* Other duties as may be assigned.Job Qualifications:* Must be at least 18 years of age.* Minimum of 2 years of experience of working in the custom metal fabrication industry or completion of equivalent technical/trade school training. Experience in Structural steel / MISC steel fabrication preferred.* Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly with supervisor/co-workers and understand direction.* Must be able to utilize basic math and read tape ruler.* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively, and operate shop equipment.* Candidate must pass drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.Benefits* We strive to provide a competitive compensation and benefits package.
