Description Our client, a manufacturer of scrap and waste handling systems, is seeking a versatile Shop Worker/Assembler to work within their machine shop. This individual will be drilling and machining a variety of parts that go into creating custom industrial shredders, conveyor systems, trim cutters, and material handling fan systems. This is a contract-to-hire role located in Germantown, WI, offering $21-$23 per hour, based on experience. The schedule is Monday - Friday, from 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Strong performance and attendance during the contract period will lead to a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package. The core of this business is creating bigger and better ways to destroy waste and move it out of an industrial setting. The current staff of 31 includes ownership, office, and the shop floor. In this role, the individual will work on a variety of custom projects, all customized to client needs. Duties include:
- Operate a 4-head drill press to drill holes, tap threads, and spot-face hole surfaces.
- Operate an overhead crane to unload steel trucks.
- Assist the painting department by wiping down welded parts and taping off areas for prime painting.
- Set-up of work areas
- Usage of tools and machines.
- Hand grind parts
- Sit down forklift operation
- Pallet jack operation
- Future growth opportunities include fan assembly and machine wiring.
Qualifications
- 1+ years' experience in assembly within a manufacturing environment.
- At least 1 year of experience with tools and machinery; experience with equipment such as drills, bandsaws, or brake presses is preferred but not required.
- Good work ethic and ability to learn
- Ability to read blueprints preferred but not required.
- Ability to use math and read a ruler (fractions)
- Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, and other PPE, including hearing protection, as required by the assignment.
- Must be able to regularly lift 25 lbs., bend and reach to stack parts, and occasionally lift 40-50 lbs.
