New employees may not be eligible for certain benefits until they meet specified service requirements in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.This position is a progressively responsible position. The selected incumbent will be hired and serve as a Signal Helper for a period of 1 year in which they will be training for the position of Assistant Signal Maintainer working under the direction of a Signal Maintainer or an Assistant Signal Maintainer and will be ineligible for transfer to another department. Upon successful completion of one (1) year service and having passed the written and or practical examination the selected incumbent will progress into the title of Assistant Signal Maintainer 1st year and will serve in this title for 2 (two) years before progressing into the Signal Maintainer title and will be ineligible for transfer to another department.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSOne (1) year of full-time experience as a Helper in the electrical, electronic, or electromechanical trade orA vocational high school diploma or trade school certificate in the electrical or electronic field.Valid Motor Vehicle Driver License.Basic knowledge of electrical theory including Ohm's Law.Ability to use a digital multi-meter.
