Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Application Development Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in application monitoring, performance metrics analysis, and a deep understanding of Java web services. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently to enhance system stability and ensure zero downtime for our web services and databases.

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize tools such as Splunk, Extrahop, App Dynamics, Prometheus, and Grafana to monitor application performance and reliability.
  • JVM and database metrics, including CPU, memory, disk space utilization, threads, and connection counts, to identify performance bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain a good understanding of Java web services, particularly REST services, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Conduct thorough analysis of traffic patterns, errors, and exceptions from logs. Propose and implement improvement ideas based on findings.
  • Engage effectively with senior management, application development teams, infrastructure teams, and database administrators (DBAs) to communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Drive initiatives to improve system stability and reliability, ensuring zero downtime for web services and databases.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of processes, metrics, and improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in application monitoring tools (Splunk, Extrahop, App Dynamics, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Strong understanding of JVM and database performance metrics.
  • Hands-on experience with Java web services (REST).
  • Ability to analyze traffic patterns, logs, and metrics to derive actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while driving stability improvements.
