Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Site Supervisor is responsible for all daily operations of one before and after school childcare site, to include: licensing and Title XXII regulations, program development, enrollment, staff supervision, safety, parent involvement, and communication. This person must follow and operate the site under the policies and philosophies of the Mission statement of the Channel Islands YMCA.
- Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs in accordance with guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
- Supervise up to 14 children independently under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing or 20 children in accordance with guidelines from California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
- If applicable, supervise an Assistant or Associate Teacher with up to 28 children under the guidelines from the State of California Community Care Licensing
- Provide quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive)
- Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive
- Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child's individual needs
- Carry out activities and lesson plans
- Ensure the program is delivering Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards
- Set up and cleanup of the program area including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, etc
- Assist the Program Director in the planning and administration of the program
- Assist in selecting, training, guiding, evaluating, and employee corrective actions for staff
- Responsible for maintaining school relationships, including monthly meetings with administration
- Meeting attendance, enrollment goals, and maintain financial controls of budgeted expenses
- Meet program quality expectations as evident on surveys, observations, and audits
- Ensure accurate enrollment and attendance procedures are followed
- Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with children and families
- Participate and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings
#CIYMCAHIGH Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years old
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years' experience working in a childcare setting
- Complete required certifications within 30 days of hire
- Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire
- Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance
- Ability to participate in the DMV Pull Program
- Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to first day of employment
California Community Care Licensing
- Must possess a minimum of 12 units of Child Development or related field and 3 units in Administration. A waiver may be submitted to allow for the Administration course to be completed in the first year of employment (or approved Community Care Licensing alternative)
California Department of Education Expanded Learning Opportunities Programs
- Must possess 48 college units; or
- Associate's Degree; or
- Pass a District-selected assessment demonstrating knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
