Job Description Job Title Position Title: SNAP-Ed Facilitator-PARTIME (12-Month - 29 Hours) Location: Central Office (Office of School Nutrition) Salary: $45,864* Reports to: SNAP-Ed Program Lead Bargaining Unit: OSAS Benefits Eligible: No Telecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for telecommuting up to 20% (one day per week) In accordance with the Agreement between the Organization of School Administrators and Supervisors and the Board of Education of the Detroit Public Schools Community District, the following vacancy is announced. *This is part-time position with a 29-hour work week schedule: 8-2:30 M-Th and 8-1:30 F. Referenced salary is based on full-time employment. Salary will be adjusted for less than full-time employment. Position Summary: Within the Office of School Nutrition, DPSCD facilitates SNAP-Ed programming to further nutritional outcomes and encourage student wellness. The SNAP-Ed Facilitator is needed to deliver content within identified district schools as well as to engage with PSE (Policy, Systems, and Environmental change) work across the district. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (Preferably within the scope of Nutrition or Education) or candidates with five or more years of relevant work experience and an associate degree or equivalent.
  • 1 or more years' experience working in a K-12 instructional setting, as well as, having knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Candidate should be comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Candidate must be comfortable working with school-aged children.
  • Candidate must have Serv-Safe Food Handler Certification or receive within 2 months of employment.
Essential Functions:
  • Under the direction of the SNAP-Ed Program Lead, responsible for day-to-day implementation of evidence-based nutrition education curriculum at K-5 Schools across the district. Curriculum implementation may be virtual as need and upon request.
  • Work with stakeholders to implement policy, systems, and environmental change work.
  • Complete program activities and tasks such as:
  • Participate in after school or community engagement activities as necessary.
  • Implement and submit required program evaluation.
  • Ensure that safe food handling techniques and methods are maintained during preparation and dissemination of taste tests (within guidelines of the Office of School Nutrition).
  • Complete monthly educator logs and qualitative reports for program fidelity.
  • Regularly meet with management and stakeholders to efficiently deliver programming.
  • Support additional SNAP-Ed Facilitators working on the project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
