Job Description Under general supervision, with increased latitude for independent judgment and decision making, in addition to performing the duties of the lower Assignment Levels at a higher level either supervises the duties of social work staff or performs tasks in a specialized clinical and/or programmatic area. Typical tasks include:
- May provide direct clinical and administrative supervision, orientation and guidance to social work staff, screen and assign cases, schedule staff ensuring adequate coverage, read and review staff work, evaluate work performance and monitor/ maintain time and leave records.
- As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), provides and documents clinical supervision of NYC H+H Licensed Master Social Workers (LMSWs) toward advanced Social Work licensure in alignment with the all relevant professional standards and practices, and in accordance with all applicable NYS licensure laws. Maintains individualized supervision logs documenting clinical supervision and ensures timely completion of attestation forms required by NYSED Office of the Professions to support CSW licensure applications, as applicable.
- May conduct or lead or participate in special studies, projects, and initiatives including the collection and evaluation of data related to vulnerable patient populations and prepare and present reports related to these service populations.
- Establishes and maintains professional social work standards of performance concerning interview techniques and methods and practices used in preparing clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and in documenting case histories
- Interprets clinical information based on case data, histories, statistics, etc.; prepares and submits comprehensive reports of case findings including chronologies of medical data and social factors necessary to support recommended courses of action.
- Orients and educates members of other professional disciplines by developing training curricula and presenting on social work concepts and functions.
- Oversees the general work and operation of a small sized social work program.
- Trains and instructs staff in agency policies and procedures and in appropriate social work techniques, methods and practices.
- Ensures compliance with accepted social work practices and principles and operational adherence to hospital and government rules and regulations, including compliance with reporting requirements and standards regarding evaluation of staff performance, time and leave regulations and timeliness of documentation.
- Participates in conferences, committees and meetings on- and off-site with supervisory/managerial staff, other clinical professionals and with representatives of government and other agencies and/or community organizations.
- Analyzes population health issues relevant to the area of responsibility and serves as a liaison to community agencies and/or groups. Acts as liaison between line staff and senior leadership to develop and modify programs to meet changing patient care needs and liaises with community agencies, facilitating communication between the agencies and the department/health care setting and the utilization of available community resources.
- Prepares reports and data management for assigned areas
- In the temporary absence of the supervisor, may perform the duties of that position.
- Other task that may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED and one (1) year of supervisory experience utilizing casework, group work and/or community organization methodologies. NYC Health and Hospitals offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
