Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.

But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.

Reporting to the Director, Software Engineering the Software Engineer is the primary point person for maintaining functionality and improving the user experience of web-based database applications. The Engineer is involved in converting access applications to web-based applications. Th e Engineer is part of the Data Services team, which works closely to increase meaningful use of data at Breaking Ground.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Serve as internal point person for database related issues and questions

+ Monitor web applications and Access databases including troubleshooting and end user support

+ Develop new web-based applications

+ Oversee table and field configuration, data system changes, API implementations

+ Assist data team with query optimization

+ Manage data conversion portion of data modernization

+ Run regular reports of data to check for quality

+ Contributes to data services efforts and initiatives

+ Work with external database consultants when needed

+ Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ Experience building and maintaining web applications. Experience with enterprise Access database development and maintenance

+ Proficiency in C# (for web applications), JavaScript (for frontend), Python, SQL, SQL Server, ASP.NET MVC Web Framework, Git Version Control required

+ Visual Basic for Applications a plus (for older access applications)

+ A problem solver, comfortable working in under-resourced settings, with diversity of tasks; team playe r
