Job Summary:

The City of St. Peters Solid Waste Department is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Solid Waste Services Specialist to perform complex administrative tasks related to Solid Waste Collections, routing, and dispatching. This role supports daily operations by managing records, payments, customer requests, and assisting Solid Waste drivers. If you have strong communication skills, are highly organized, and have office administration experience, this position is a great opportunity to contribute to the effective operation of our community's waste management services.

Normal Shift: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Mon-Fri)- varies depending on dispatching needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform various administrative and word processing tasks, including creating reports and maintaining records.
  • Assist with deposits, calculate and maintain daily receipts for Recycle City and the Solid Waste Department.
  • Coordinate responses to customer service and government inquiries, collaborating with supervisors.
  • Generate daily reports on tonnage totals, route efficiency, and program participation.
  • Monitor and manage route optimization software for service verification and route exceptions.
  • Provide dispatch guidance and assist Solid Waste drivers with route management and customer service concerns.
  • Maintain department databases, files, and correspondence.
  • Oversee inventory and manage permits/licenses for third-party waste haulers within the City limits.
  • Order and maintain supplies for the Solid Waste Department.
  • Perform additional administrative duties in the absence of the Administrative Coordinator.
  • Ensure compliance with City safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • High School graduate or GED certificate and two (2) years of office experience.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Proficient in the use of tablets, mobile devices, and other associated modern technologies using a Google, Android, or Linux platform.
  • Considerable knowledge of fundamental communication skills and general office practices and procedures.
