L'Auberge Carmel is searching for the right Sommelier to join our world-class team.Job ObjectiveActs as part of an integral service team providing the utmost customer service in fine dining standards to all L'Auberge Carmel and Aubergine guests with a primary focus on recommending and pairing wines with food.Key Areas of Accountability:*“desire for continued education and learning is a must”*Maintains and updates wine pairing list based on current menu compatibility.*Coordinates ordering of wines with the Wine Director.*Maintains close inventory of Wine products.*Ensures accurate, knowledgeable, and thorough service of wines to all guests.*Teaches service staff about paired wines to ensure they can assist in a knowledgeable fashion.*Assists service staff with food service as able.*Ensures guest satisfaction in Restaurant Service Operations.*Performs all Service procedures in an exemplary manner.*Ensures preparation and maintenance of wine service.*Ensures thorough knowledge of food.*Communicates clearly and effectively with Charm and Courtesy.*Is familiar with and able to offer and up-sell beverages and extra options.*Maintains excellent standards of Health and Safety in line with hotel policy and CAL/OSHA requirements.*Maintains a teamwork orientation toward and among co-workers.*Assist in the effort to ensure guests are greeted in a warm and timely manner.*Responds to guest concerns and questions and resolve to guest's satisfaction by troubleshooting or directing guest complaints to the appropriate department head for prompt action.*Able to utilize Toast system to print reports, read guest requests, utilize guest names, and seat guests in the system.*Able to utilize the Toast Point of Sales system effectively and accurately.*Coordinates and communicates with kitchen and service staff effectively.*Completes Wine inventory monthly.*Completes glassware inventory quarterly.*Maintains impeccable standards of appearance and standards of silence.*Ensures restrooms are kept up to guest standards*Handles all equipment, china, glassware, etc. with care*Handles all aspects of food service including running food, setting silverware, clearing plates, resets tables, and offering beverage or coffee service.*Demonstrates loyalty and trustworthiness to the entire Mirabel Hotel and Restaurant Group.*Other duties as assigned.More detail about Aubergine at L'Auberge Carmel, please visit
