At Goodwill, every donation, task, and customer interactions contribute to our mission of creating job opportunities and providing training programs for those in need.Job SummaryAs a Merchandise Sorter, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of our retail stores by processing donated goods, maintaining quality control, and contributing to a positive customer experience. You'll be responsible for sorting apparel and other hard goods into boutique, salable, and salvage categories to meet store inventory needs and maximize profitability.Key Responsibilities
- Sort donated goods into appropriate categories, meeting daily and hourly processing goals.
- Ensure quality standards by inspecting items for stains, tears, odors, or damage.
- Stay updated on brand names, designer labels, vintage styles, and pricing trends.
- Maintain a clean and organized sorting area.
- Assist with pricing, tagging, and transporting apparel, as well as floor rotation when needed.
- Demonstrate Goodwill's core values, including teamwork, stewardship, and integrity.
- Follow safety and security procedures and report any hazards or incidents to management.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: No specific education or experience required, but familiarity with brands and styles is a plus.
- Skills:
- Ability to stand, bend, and reach during work hours.
- Basic math skills to support inventory tracking.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, and lift items up to 40 pounds, if not more. Assistance is available for heavier items.
- Specific vision abilities, including color vision and depth perception, are necessary for assessing item quality.
