Job Description :

The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and securing reliable suppliers and vendors to meet an organization's operational needs by conducting market research, analyzing data, comparing prices and quality, and negotiating contracts to achieve cost effective sourcing strategies while maintaining quality and delivery; essentially,

finding the best possible suppliers for a company's specific product or service needs. This position plays a crucial role in operations improvement, cost savings as well as total process efficiency and productivity. To be successful in this role,

the Sourcing Specialist should combine knowledge of sourcing techniques with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The following is a brief non-exclusive list of the responsibilities and duties of the Sourcing Specialist:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts research to understand company's operational needs and requirements
  • Identifies potential suppliers and assesses their capabilities to find the best options for the company's needs
  • Builds relationships with vendors and key suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality standards
  • Keeps abreast of industry and market trends and best practices
  • Negotiates pricing, terms, conditions and cost control
  • Analyzes spending patterns to identify areas for potential cost reduction initiatives and strategic sourcing opportunities
  • Tracks supplier performance against key metrics such as quality, delivery time and cost
  • Continuously evaluates supplier capabilities, reliability, and compliance to ensure high-quality products and services
  • Identifies potential risks in the supply chain and develop risk mitigation plans to ensure continuity of supply
  • Operates within a culture of excellence in the execution of transactional procurement activities: on time ordering, order book maintenance, lead time accuracy, pricing accuracy, order acknowledgements, rescheduling, overdue order follow through, invoice accuracy
  • Complies with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Additional duties as may be assigned

  • Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:High school diploma/GED required
  • 3+ years of experience as a sourcing/procurement specialist or in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management or a related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, as well as familiarity with Google Sheets
  • Excellent negotiation abilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and networking skills
  • Detail oriented – demonstrated ability to work with speed, accuracy, and efficiency in busy environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
