SOVEREIGN ANALYST - Insight Investment : Job Details

Insight Investment is looking for Sovereign Analyst to join the Emerging Markets team in New York. The Sovereign Analyst will monitor markets across Latin America and provide independent sovereign analysis. The successful individual will work closely with the other Emerging Markets Sovereign Analysts as part of the team. The primary audience for analysis will be Emerging Markets Portfolio Managers, but the individual will also communicate analysis to others (Portfolio Managers in other teams, Corporate Analysts, and Clients).

Role Responsibilities

• Cover countries across Latin America. This includes daily analysis of economic/financial/political developments and delivering weekly deep dives (both written and verbal presentations)
• Generate investment strategies and actionable trade ideas in Latin America supported by rigorous fundamental analysis across hard currency bonds, local currency bonds and FX
• Participate in team and firm forums of discussion regularly and actively contribute country and macroeconomic thoughts as well as market views
• Support all aspects of marketing, distribution, and client service as required. For example, producing white papers that address specific macroeconomic topics impacting EM countries

Experience Required

• Relevant experience of sovereign credit focused economic/financial analysis in Latin America
• This may be from the official sector, sell-side, buy-side firms, or rating agencies
• Bachelors/Masters in Economics, Finance, or other financial disciplines
• Advanced Excel skills, and ability to process large data sets (such as programming languages and Macrobond). Deep knowledge of Bloomberg
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand and to speak Spanish (and potentially Portuguese) is a plus for the role
• Experience analysing and investing in distressed sovereigns is ideal but not essential
• High attention to detail whilst working in a collaborative environment
