Grade/Level: N/A FLSA: Exempt Primary Function: Knowledge of all Special Education processes including due process, IEP's, and scheduling. Knowledge of Special Education law and compliance. Demonstrated communication skills.Working Conditions: Physical Demands: Office and Classroom Environment Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboardHearing and speaking to exchange informationSeeing to read a variety of materialsSitting for extended periods of timeBending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materialsQualifications: A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission:*Special Education General Curriculumn; or *Special Education Adaptive Curriculumn; or *Other Special Education field *Certification in one or more academic content areas (P-5), (4-8), (6-12), or (P-12) is preferred The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements. Essential Functions: Demonstrates prompt and regular attendanceMonitors due process procedures/timelines for all students with disabilitiesCoordinates and verifies state and federal funding countsCoordinate assessmentsAssists in conducting Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetingsAssists with coordination of area meetings and dissemination of informationMentor teachers as assignedDemonstrates effective teaching strategies and interventions for students with disabilitiesServes as the contact person for RTI/SSTDemonstrates ability to problem solve and diffuse difficult situationsInstructs or consults with students with disabilities when necessaryServes as case manager for students on consultAssists with end of the year proceduresServes as liaison between special education and regular education staff within the schoolProvides direct support to special education teachersDemonstrates clear, professional oral and written communicationProvides training to school staffReview and finalize IEPsPerforms other duties as directed by Superintendent or designee
