Below is the position overview, apply today to see what impact you can make!Anyone who applies must have the Education Specialist Credential from the CTC.Position OverviewSpecial Education teachers work with students who have a wide range of learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities. They adapt general education lessons and teach various subjects, from math to English, in a way that is easier to understand for students with mild and moderate disabilities. They also teach basic skills, such as literacy and communication techniques, to students with severe disabilities.Start: ASAPHours: 745am-3:00pm Monday-Friday *Hours could vary based on locationCompensation: Starting at $80/hr based on experience and qualifications*Must have Education Specialist Credential from the Commission of Teacher Credentialing in California.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:May include but not limited to:
- Assess students' skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
- Help develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student
- Update IEPs throughout the school year to reflect students' progress and goals
- Plan, organize, and assign activities specific student abilities
- Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
- Assess students' performance and progress periodically
- Discuss student's progress with parents, general education teachers, counselors, and administrators
- Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade
- Comply will all company policies and applicable laws
- Handles all other duties as assigned
