THE ROLE: Herbalife is seeking a Corporate Communications Specialist who is passionate about storytelling, thinks strategically, has strong media relations skills and has a proven track record of securing media coverage and delivering outstanding results. In this role, the Specialist will play a key role in developing and implementing PR strategies and campaigns to drive brand and company affinity, top-of-mind awareness, and positive reputation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public relations, journalism, or media relations, with demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with members of the media. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, this role requires excellent communication skills, with strong writing ability a requirement. The role also requires creativity and the ability to work collaboratively with Corporate Communications team members and collaborators across the business.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE: Develop and implement strategic PR plans and campaigns. Pitch stories and secure media coverage across print, broadcast, and online channels. Develop innovative storytelling efforts across traditional and new channels to include multimedia and cross-channel strategies. Build and distribute engaging press releases, media alerts, and other PR materials. Develop media content, including bylines, as part of integrated communications campaigns that ensure consistent messaging and support business priorities. Build and maintain positive relationships with media contacts and influencers. Proactively pitch stories, respond to media requests and handle requests for information. Working with Corporate Communications Coordinator, monitor and analyze media coverage. Schedule and lead all aspects of media interviews including spokesperson training, media backgrounders and detailed briefing materials. Monitor industry and competitive landscape, report relevant updates to key organizational stakeholders, and engage relevant organizational team members for support on reactive communication strategies and applicable materials, as needed. Support crisis and issues management efforts. Effectively collaborate with internal collaborators to develop plans and responses to potentially controversial or detrimental media coverage.

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: 5+ years of relevant work experience in media relations, public relations (in-house or agency) Strong writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP Style Strong understanding of the media landscape and experience working with media, as well as experience with monitoring platforms, wire services, and other relevant tools. Strong strategic skills, with demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective campaigns with measurable results Experience working under pressure and meeting deadlines. Self-motivated and reliable, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional team members. Ability to prioritize, solve problems and work effectively under pressure. Strong understanding of PR-specific KPIs and reporting techniques, with the ability to interpret and use data to inform strategies.

Education
Bachelors degree in journalism, public relations, communications or equivalent field preferred.
