SPECIMEN PROCESSOR - Mohawk Valley Health Systems : Job Details

Under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Services, Operations Coordinator and Laboratory Manager, the Specimen Processor registers and orders patient tests in computer system(s). Core Job Responsibilities Picks-up and/or processes specimens for laboratory testing and routes them to the appropriate department Perform receptionist duties, maintains records and files, prints, faxes and mails patient reports Obtains follow up information on any and all missing insurance and/or demographic information Verify all applicable insurances through appropriate verification system Maintain records and files in designated areas throughout the lab. Scans scripts/requisitions/orders during every registration. Scan reference lab reports into the computer system as they are received and is able to retrieve scanned documents. Check for Medicare covered diagnosis utilizing current software. Obtains a waiver when necessary.
