Principal Responsibilities:Job Overview:We are seeking a passionate and energetic Sports Instructor to join our after-school program. The Sports Instructor will be responsible for planning and leading sports activities and lessons for elementary school students. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in multiple sports, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for children to learn and have fun.Minimum Qualifications:Key Responsibilities
  • Sports Instruction: Plan and execute age-appropriate sports lessons and activities. Teach fundamental sports skills and techniques.
  • Sportsmanship: Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play among students. Adapt activities to accommodate various skill levels and abilities.
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety of all participants during sports activities.
  • Supervise and monitor students at all times: Implement and enforce program rules and guidelines.
  • Equipment Management: Maintain and organize sports equipment and materials. Perform routine equipment checks for safety and functionality. Ensure that the gym closet is kept neat and orderly after each class. Report any damaged or missing equipment to the Program Director.
  • Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with program staff. Provide regular feedback on student progress and behavior. Address and resolve any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with the Program Director to develop sports curriculum and lesson plans. Continuously evaluate and improve the sports program to meet the needs and interests of students.
  • Inclusivity and Diversity: Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, regardless of their skill level, background, or abilities. Promote diversity and respect among participants. Experience or background in special needs education or inclusive sports programming is preferable.
Salary: This is a part-time position with hours ranging from 3:00-6:00 pm. This position will pay $40 an hour.Salary:$25,000 - $35,000 Agency Information: About The Riverdale YM-YWHA:The Riverdale Y is a 50,000 sq. ft.
