  • Provide leadership and direction to the store staff, including supervisors and associates. Support the Store Manager in developing a strong sales environment focused on teamwork and customer service.
  • Ensure store sales goals are achieved by providing leadership and direction in the areas of: sales techniques, customer service, product knowledge and store communications. Supervise daily activities of the store staff in all aspects of job performance and compliance with store policies and procedures.
  • Support the Store Manager by implementing and assisting in employee training and development. Training and coaching will include the areas of sales, customer service, front end and store operations as needed.
  • Assist in the timely completion of record keeping associated with applicants, new hires, payroll, performance appraisals, salary reviews, counselling, disciplinary actions and terminations. Ensure accuracy of opening and closing procedures, cashiering and returns.
  • Assist Store Manager in interviewing, hiring, training, review and disciplinary action process as it applies to store staff.
  • Provide coaching and direction on a day-to-day basis to ensure staff performance standards are met. Provide leadership and directions to the Supervisors as needed. Provide input to Store Manager on staff performance for the performance appraisal process.
  • Perform good customer service by assisting customers in person or on the phone. Provide information to customers on current product features and benefits. Requires maintaining current and accurate knowledge of product features, benefits, and availability. Resolve customer complaints.
  • Answer product and order inquiries. Includes computer research and coordination with corporate.
  • Assist the Store Manager in developing and implementing motivational incentives for sales staff. Track employee results.
  • Perform regular daily store, activities such as opening and closing procedures which include balancing registers, preparing cash bags, and activating security system.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory levels through ongoing communication with Store Manager and Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Assist Store Manager in the implementing and maintenance of management systems for sales tracking, organization, controlling and auditing store operations.
QualificationsQualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years retail management/supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree a plus (in business with an emphasis in retailing or other related field preferred)
  • Moderate computer skills
  • Minimal 45-hour work week
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and as the business dictates
  • Occasionally life and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds
  • Must be able to climb ladders
