Work Shifts 8:00 A.M - 4:00 P.M Job Description Purpose: A Senior Associate Level II is under the supervision of the Director of Physical Therapy and is licensed and registered in the State of New York.The Senior Associate Level II has received an education: including the completion of a four-year college program in physical therapy, in accordance with the Department of Education's regulations, provided that such requirements shall include a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or doctoral degree in physical therapy.Senior Associate Level II physical therapists are responsible for evaluating and treating patients and performing all of the duties associated with practicing physical therapy within a physical therapist's scope of practice. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: §Required to evaluate and treat a varied caseload, including orthopedic, neurological, medical, and surgical patients, etc., at the discretion of the Director of Physical Therapy and/or designee, in accordance with a physician's prescription. §Maintains patient records and other required reports, as outlined in the division's policies for inpatient and outpatient documentation. §Responsible for developing and modifying treatment plans and goals, as needed, throughout each patient's therapy sessions. §Consults with medical staff regarding recommended therapy. §Attends team conferences to discuss a patient's progress, problems relating to therapy and discharge planning. §Participates in in-service programs for professional personnel, students and other employees. §Attends continuing education seminars throughout the year and is required to give subsequent in-services on the course material. §Encouraged to attend grand round lectures given by guest lecturers. §Answers inquiries from staff, physicians, other medical personnel and relatives of patients regarding each patient's progress. §Required to supervise student physical therapists, and/or physical therapist assistants, plan their course of instruction, and evaluate their performance according to guidelines set by the New York State Physical Therapy Association. §Responsible for supervision of ancillary staff members and volunteers. §Participates in the development of new evaluation and treatment documentation. §Responsible for contributing to the development of new performance improvement monitors. §Responsible for keeping abreast of developments in the field, and sharing that information with co-workers. §Assists in orientating/reorienting staff members regarding departmental policies, procedures, and practices. §As assigned, coordinates and/or manages activities in one or more clinical specialties such as geriatrics, orthopedics, etc., and assists in training/in-servicing appropriate staff members based on advanced knowledge in one or more specialty areas. §Assists in implementing new physical therapy programs and participates in educational outreach for the communities CIH serves. §All individuals responsible for assessment, treatment, or care of patients must be competent, as appropriate to the following age group(s): *neonatal (birth-11 mo), *pediatric (12 mo-12 yrs), adolescent (13-18 yrs), adult (19-64 yrs), and geriatric (65+ yrs) in: a.The ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of patients needs. b.Knowledge of growth and development. c.An understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients. *Only those Physical Therapists with specialized training for the treatment of the neonate or pediatric patient are required to treat those patient populations. Minimum Qualifications All candidates must have a valid Physical Therapy License and current registration issued by the New York State Department of Education, AND one of the following: 1. A Baccalaureate Degree with a major in Physical Therapy accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), and two years of full-time experience administering physical therapy under professional supervision; or, 2. A Master's Degree in Physical Therapy accredited by the APTA with a Baccalaureate Degree in an unrelated discipline, and two years of full-time experience administering physical therapy under professional supervision; or, 3. A Baccalaureate Degree and a Master's Degree, both with a major in Physical Therapy accredited by the APTA, and one year of full-time experience administering physical therapy under professional supervision; or, 4. A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to (1), (2) or (3). Education beyond the Baccalaureate Degree may be credited toward meeting the minimum requirements. However, all candidates must have either the Baccalaureate Degree or the Master's Degree as described above and a minimum of one year of experience as described above.
