- Must have current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Florida.
- Must be willing and able to work some weekends and holidays as required.

- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must have good computer skills.
- Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug test.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in a long-term care environment with a geriatric population in activities department.
- Current BLS CPR card.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: - The incumbent of the Senior Certified Nursing Assistant (SCNA) / Activities position will ensure that the residents ADLs, daily assignments, and an ongoing program of activities in accordance with the comprehensive assessment are completed during the shift while identifying and resolving needs. Reports directly to the Activities Director (Therapy Aide Supervisor). Assist with developing and implementing an activities program, which improves or maintains physical, mental, and social well-being with a varied work schedule that may include weekend, evenings, and holidays. This includes maintaining resident daily hygiene, nourishment, and appointments. The incumbent is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents of the Florida State Veterans' Nursing Home, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Assist with developing an activity plan for each resident in accordance with the inter-disciplinary team process. Responsible for the documentation of that plan in the resident's medical record. Responsible for initial interview with new residents and input of resident data into the medical record.
- Performing duties of the Activities Director when the Activities Director is unavailable.
- Responsible for maintaining the activity space and requesting equipment and supplies for the program and ensuring resident safety for individual and/or group activities.
- Provide the assistance, when necessary, by giving residents the following Activities of Daily Living nursing care: oral hygiene; bathing; dressing and grooming; hair and nail care; shaving; toileting; assistance with meals, nourishments and transportation to meal service areas, and mobility. Routinely observe, identify, and report resident concerns/needs to supervisor. Provide escort to resident appointments when required. Complete assignments timely, completely, and accurately. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
- Perform restorative nursing measures. Document in the nursing assistant notes the care and treatment provided to the resident and the response or lack of response to care provided.
- Perform simple nursing measures such as but not limited to applying splints and positioning devices, making occupied and unoccupied beds, changing linens, taking vital signs, weights, recording intake and output, etc. Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures. Review care plans and perform nursing care as outlined. Participate in the development of an individualized plan of care of assigned residents.
- Respond to residents' requests / needs, assure resident have call lights at hand, and answer call lights promptly. Observe all facility safety, infection control policies and procedures.
- Complete required documentation. Consistently working cooperatively with resident, resident's representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants, and ancillary service providers. Maintain confidentiality of resident.
- Performs all other related duties in an effective, timely, professional manner as assigned. Attend all in-service programs classes as assigned and complete assignment. Participates in interdisciplinary team and other facility meetings as assigned.
- Follow Residents Rights' policies at all times. Assume accountability for data contained in the employees' handbook.
