Job Summary The Senior Environmental Specialist will support our environmental health and sustainability efforts by properly managing site permits (SWPPP, SPCC, etc.), hazardous, non-hazardous, and special waste materials. In this role, the Senior Environmental Specialist will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations while also ensuring the necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines. The Senior Environmental Specialist will participate in field testing, audits, and risk assessments and is responsible for providing appropriate documentation to inspectors. Essential Functions

- Properly manage hazardous, non-hazardous, and special waste streams, including, but not limited to, used oil.
- Perform required routine inspections of waste accumulation facilities.
- Manage the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan for the facility.
- Manage the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections and materials needed for compliance.
- Respond as the field lead to direct response to spills and releases.
- Sample waste streams as needed to identify the constituents for proper profiling.
- Maintain inventory of required spill response materials and equipment.
- Manage the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the worksite.
- Develop, maintain, and provide guidance on environmental processes and/or policies.
- Assess environmental risk, provide recommendations to address risk and participate in or run the approved course of action, including required regulatory documentation.
- Perform environmental compliance audits and due diligence investigations as needed.
- Prepare and submit all required compliance reports/certifications.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to environmental compliance programs.
- Perform additional assignments as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or chemistry, or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of degree.
- 4+ years of related environmental specialist experience required; at least 2 years spent in an onsite environmental role highly preferred.
- Strong computer capability including Microsoft Office programs.
- Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and timely task execution.
- Analytical abilities.
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels within the Company as well as outside stakeholders (regulatory agencies, customers).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
