Job Summary:The Senior Healthcare Estimator will play a pivotal role in the preparation of accurate and detailed estimates for healthcare construction projects valued at $20M and above. This position requires a strong understanding of healthcare construction processes, including specialized systems and requirements, as well as the ability to manage and lead the estimating process for large, complex projects. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in estimating healthcare projects and will work closely with project managers, architects, and clients to ensure accurate project cost forecasting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the estimating process for healthcare construction projects valued over $20M.
- Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to determine project scope, requirements, and cost implications.
- Conduct detailed take-offs from project documents and provide accurate cost estimates for all phases of healthcare projects, including demolition, construction, and specialized systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, designers, and engineers, to ensure estimates align with client objectives and project requirements.
- Solicit and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with project needs.
- Provide value engineering solutions to help optimize costs while maintaining the integrity and quality of the healthcare facility.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and clients.
- Monitor changes in project scope and requirements, adjusting estimates accordingly to reflect project evolution.
- Prepare and review bid proposals, ensuring they are detailed and accurate.
- Stay up to date with trends in healthcare construction, industry standards, and material costs.
- Mentor and support junior estimators, helping them develop their skills and understanding of healthcare construction.
Qualifications:
- 8 years of experience estimating healthcare construction projects, with a focus on projects over $20M.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare facility requirements, including systems such as MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing), medical gas, and HVAC, as well as specialized regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
- Experience with healthcare project types such as hospitals, medical offices, outpatient centers, and other healthcare facilities.
- Proficiency with estimating software (ProEst, Sage Estimating, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for collaboration with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and offer creative solutions during the bidding process.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare building codes, industry standards, and regulations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
