Senior Project Engineer

We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support our growing product portfolio in our Jupiter, FL location. The Senior Project Engineer will be working with a dedicated team of engineers strategically distributed around the globe based upon the product and customer requirements. We are seeking an individual with product development and product launch experience in the automotive aftermarket or similar industry to act as the voice of the Product Development Team as the product moves through its early lifecycle up to and including the pilot production run. This position reports to the Sr. Dir, Global Engineering. This is not a remote role, we are on-site M-F. Relocation assistance is not offered for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards, project specifications, quality, timelines, and budgetary goals.
- Requirements Translation: Capture customer requirements from the Product Development team and accurately convey these to both the internal MPS team and supplier partners to ensure seamless project execution.
- Product Development Support: Drive local development and enhancement initiatives, focusing on efficiency and innovation for both new and existing products.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate clear, consistent communication among all project stakeholders—clients, contractors, suppliers, executives, and team members—to maintain alignment on project goals and progress.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential obstacles and develop effective mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Cost Optimization: Collaborate with suppliers to co-develop product designs that leverage their manufacturing strengths, enabling robust, cost-effective solutions.
- Global Coordination: Travel internationally (up to 20%) to our offices in Poland and China, as well as to supplier locations, to ensure product and manufacturing alignment.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in Automotive Aftermarket Development: Proven experience with product development in the automotive aftermarket space.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with 3D scanners, 3D printing, SolidWorks (CAD), Excel, PowerPoint, Word, PLM/PDM software, and root cause analysis tools.
- Process Improvement: Skilled in establishing standardized processes, work instructions, and protocols to ensure consistent quality and productivity.
- Communication & Presentation: Ability to compile technical reports, conduct design reviews, and deliver presentations tailored to diverse audiences.
- Project Tracking: Experience with Sigma (PLM), Outlook, and Teams for effective project tracking and documentation.
- Quality Assurance & Validation: Demonstrated capability to define and lead verification and validation processes, including reliability, durability, environmental, and vehicle-level testing.
- Manufacturing Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and experience with components such as mechanical and electronic pumps, electric actuators, sensors, molded rubber and plastic parts, cast metal, and stamped metal products.
- Failure Mode Analysis: Proficient with DFMEA and PFMEA tools to identify and mitigate potential failure modes in both design and process stages.
- Automotive Electrical Systems: Knowledge of automotive electrical systems is a plus.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related field.Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar engineering role, ideally within the automotive or automotive aftermarket industry.
- Experience working with global projects with an international team.
