Position Overview:

Responsible for supporting the objectives of the Quality Department by developing, executing and managing the Quality Plan as well as facilitating continuous improvement in all Wanzek processes. The position requires approximately 50% travel.

Responsibilities:

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Promote culture of quality workmanship and safety in the field
  • Promote and communicate the Company quality policies and procedures
  • Manage FQM resources, schedule, hiring, etc
  • Ensure health of Quality Program at sites
  • Manage FQM onboarding at sites
  • Lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts for complex quality issues
  • Investigate incident or defect root cause and facilitate corrective measures
  • Serve as a mentoring resource on quality matters for Inspectors and Field Engineers
  • Develop and manage Quality Document Control processes
  • Participate in the development of and ongoing maintenance of a smart field document system
  • Review and propose quality requirements in customer contracts during the proposal stage
  • Audit health of Project Quality Plans and Inspection and Test Plans for projects
  • Audit health of inspections and testing as required by the project specifications, company standards, and government regulations
  • Audit health of third party inspections and tests as required by the project specification, Company standards, and government regulations
  • Oversee the continuing development of process to prepare and facilitate quality documents and Client Acceptance Records for client turnover process
  • Audit health of company and job compliance to API 1104 and ASME welding codes and maintain stamp certification (if applicable in work area)
  • Manage Lessons Learned, RCA effective solutions & Quality Alerts, ensure integration into Quality Processes

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Work with field staff to identify and issue Quality Alerts, notices of nonconformance and corrective actions
  • Work directly with Director of Quality to assess resources needs to support projects, QM support, FQM support, FE and Quality Technicians
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree (AAS) or other two-year college degree in quality, industrial technology, engineering, construction, welding, or other related technical field
  • Preferred Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in quality, industrial technology, business management, construction, science or related major
  • Minimum 8 years of quality experience in construction or operations - with exposure to civil, electrical, mechanical, pipeline/oil/gas, industrial, agricultural and welding activities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek's Zero Injury principles
  • Apply principles of quality, lean kaizen and continuous improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
  • Write reports, technical specifications, work instructions, procedures, business correspondence and document quality related issues and activities
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
  • Effectively communicate and develop positive working relationships with the owner, owner's representative, and the Company's site supervision, in order to facilitate the quality objectives
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, statistics and geometry
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
