Become a key member of our expanding restoration team and advance your career.Alta Science and Engineering has a current opening for a Sr. Restoration Practitioner, either an Engineer or Geomorphologist, to oversee and support stream, meadow, and wetland restoration projects throughout the Inland Northwest and beyond. You will work collaboratively with a team to grow restoration work. This role will involve a mixture of project management, business development, team management, field and office work. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and work well with a creative and fun team that includes scientists, engineers, and clients. This full time (40 hours/week) benefited position will be based in our Boise or Moscow, Idaho office.Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and develop assessment, design, and construction oversight projects such as stream, meadow, and wetland restoration and wetland mitigation (may also include remedial design activities at hazardous waste sites, flood control, culvert replacements, etc.)
- Develop and implement plans, procedures, and protocols for accomplishing project tasks, and conduct or manage field work for projects as necessary
- Ensure natural systems projects and tasks are complete on time and within budget and maintain Alta's quality standards
- Plan, schedule, and prepare project deliverables (design documents, bid packages, reports, memoranda, etc.)
- Serve as a key contact with clients and other stakeholders, and provide timely communication with management regarding project, client, or other issues
- Coach, mentor and develop staff
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism during client and staff interaction
- Actively promote good Health and Safety practices at all times
- Lead marketing and business development initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering (preferably with an emphasis in water resources) or Bachelor's degree in fluvial geomorphology
- Solid knowledge of hydrology, geomorphology, hydraulics, and river and wetland processes
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; strong technical writing skills
- Strong computer skills, with solid working knowledge of MS Office Software packages, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
- 10+ years of restoration work
- Strong organization and proven attention to detail
- Ability to conduct field work, in some cases in adverse weather conditions and on rough terrain
- Ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams
- Demonstrates understanding of market and technical proposals
- Willingness to travel
- Valid driver's license with insurable driving record
- A passion for natural systems
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with relevant federal regulations such as CWA, ESA, and NEPA
- Working knowledge of design software, specifically AutoCAD Civil 3D
- 40-Hour or 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR 1910.120) with current 8-hour refresher training
- Master's Degree
