Sr Security Engineer - H&R Block : Job Details

Job Description:

Seeking Senior Software Engineer to oversee applications within the H&R Block Information Security team. In this position, you will take a lead role on development projects, writing, testing, and deploying code and cloud infrastructure. Applicants should have strong development, communication, and leadership skills.Job Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the team's DevOps strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.

Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to provision and maintain a scalable and reliable infrastructure. Including troubleshooting application issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations.

Automate and streamline deployment processes, minimizing manual intervention and improving system efficiency. Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact the business.

Implement security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability scanning, to protect company data and systems.

Collaborate with development team(s) to implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, enabling faster and more reliable software releases.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact and recommending adoption where appropriate.

Mentor and guide junior DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

What you'll bring to the team...Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.

Work Experience:

• 5 years Minimum related work experience
• Bachelor's or master's degree in software development, computer science, or a related field
• (Full-stack) Software development experience (5+ years preferred)
• Experience with .Net C# web development or similar (C#)
• Experience with front-end frameworks (Angular or similar)
• Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, or similar)
• Experience with database management (SQL Server or similar)
• Experience with Source Control Management (Git)
• Experience using IDEs (Visual Studio or similar – comfort with debugging)
• Experience with working with cloud architecture environment
• Experience with Infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar) is a plus
• Experience leading a project using Agile and DevOps practices
• Knowledge of Object Oriented/MVC/Observer software design patterns
• Knowledge of standard testing practices
• Interest in Information Security
