SR. Specialist, Safety - Warehouse - Giant Eagle : Job Details

Job Summary

As a Sr. Safety Specialist, you will develop a zero-incident safety culture by providing leadership for prevention and compliance processes to all assigned locations. This role will be primarily based out of our OK Grocery warehouse at 735 Beechnut Drive, PGH, but will also be supporting our BRM(Butler Refrigerated Meats location and HBC warehouse at 601 Meadowlands Blvd. Washington, PA locations.

Job Description

• Experience Required: 1 to 3 years Health & Safety experience in a warehouse industry
• Experience Desired: Supply Chain/Warehouse H&S experience
• Education Required: Bachelors Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field of study
• Travel Required: Regional - between assigned warehouses
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Technical Skills Required: Must be proficient with all Microsoft Office Suite (particularly excel and PowerPoint)
• Experience preferred: PowerBI
• Clear communication skills
• Ability to influence and provide guidance

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct safety prevention assessments and compliance audits to provide training and coaching to leadership teams.
• Provide safety support to drive improvement in under-performing locations.
• Lead Monday morning safety calls and attend regional leadership meetings to communicate critical safety topics and leading indicator performance.
• Lead the safety champion process by conducting monthly conference calls/webinars and annual training sessions.
• Provide a single point of contact for safety related questions and recommendations for the region.
• Review all incident reports and provide assistance in conducting investigations as required. Follow-up on root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Provide regulatory and emergency assistance to assigned locations.
• Utilize safety data to develop communications materials and presentations.
• Provide oversight for OSHA compliance and manage OSHA inspections
