Summary:Welds all types of commonly used metals and alloys of various sizes, shapes and thicknesses, including dissimilar metals such as copper to steel | Operates various hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand-soldering or brazing equipment to weld or join metal components or to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products | May set up, operate and/or tend to robots that weld, braze, solder or heat treat metal products, components or assemblies.Major Position ResponsibilitiesTitle: Sr WelderShift: Tuesday-Friday; Off on MondaysHours: 5:30am-3:50pmEssential Duties:

• Join various metal parts to form permanent bonds.
• Welds metal components and parts using specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches.
• Uses electrical currents to create heat and bond metals.
• Plans work by interpreting blueprints.
• Observes tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.

Basic QualificationsRequired Qualifications: Vocational/Technical Training DegreeEquivalent combination of relevent education &/or experience3-5 years prior experience in a similar positionKnowledge. Skills, & Abilities: Technicial expertisePlanning skillsDetail orientedManual dexterity Welding and Fabrication experience (Aluminum, Titanium, and Stainless Steel)Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree/Technical TrainingMechanical backgroundPhysical Demands: Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.May need to stand for long periods of time.
