Tokyo Central San Diego is looking to expand our management team. Tokyo Central is the largest Japanese supermarket in San Diego with in-store meat, fish, produce, and sushi departments, as well as expansive grocery and non-food sections, with a great team of 60+ employees. Fluency in Spanish and/or Japanese is a huge plus with our multilingual crew.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from a two-year College is required; a minimum of 3 to 5 years of work experience in a grocery chain establishment preferred. Customer service experience in a similar or comparable work environment, strong verbal communication skills supported by a pleasant and positive attitude of “can do” success.
  • Strong operational skills with focus on great time management.

***Assistant Store Manager***

Marukai Corporation U.S.A. is a fast-growing American offshoot chain of retail markets that imports and sells Japanese goods in America. Unlike other Japanese supermarkets, which may carry non-Japanese products based on local diversity, Marukai has Hawaiian products as a core focus in addition to Japanese, not only in Hawaii, but all its stores.

***Currently we are seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager.

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager in managing sales, profits, staffing, image, and operation of the store. Under the direction of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager will proactively lead the store to ensure the success of business goals in revenues, expense, profitability, customer satisfaction, inventory shrinkage, and employee morale. The Assistant Store Manager will provide customers and associates with outstanding service through friendly, quick, efficient, accurate and safe assistance.

The ideal candidate should have previous experience in retail/restaurant or customer service environment required, previous experience in management preferably of a grocery store highly desirable.

The ideal candidate must possess the following licenses:

  • Possesses a food handling license.
  • Possesses a forklift operating license desirable but not required.
  • Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a “Certified Food Safety Manager” or will be required to attend company paid training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position in which it is required.
  • Possesses a Valid Driver's License.
