Staff Accountant
Location/Schedule: Crossnore, North Carolina, in-person. Work hours are generally 8:30 am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility. Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Availability to travel to campuses and throughout regions occasionally for necessary meetings.

Education/Experience/Licensure:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
- 3+ years Accounting/Finance experience, including payroll processing, recording of cash receipts, general ledger entries, and account reconciliation required.
- Experience with medical billing, contracts, and financial statements preferred.
- Experience in not for profit accounting principles strongly preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Staff Accountant, you will:
- Payroll Processing: Manage and execute payroll functions for the agency, aligning processes with the HRIS system.
- Revenue and Receivables: Process cash receipts and record revenue/receivables under the direction of senior finance leadership.
- General Ledger Management: Record approved journal entries, perform account analysis, and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports, including financial statements, budget performance, and interim reporting.
- Tax Filings: Prepare quarterly and annual tax filings, W2s, and 1099s.
- Month-End Procedures: Perform month-end closing tasks as determined by senior finance leaders.
- Training and Orientation: Provide time reporting orientation and training for new hires.
- 401K and Benefits: Process 401K contributions, profit sharing, and payroll deductions for benefits.
- Audit Preparation: Assist in audit preparations and compliance activities.
- Data Analysis: Research historical financial data and prepare necessary reports.
- Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with program areas and team members to implement efficient accounting practices.
- Confidentiality and Judgment: Exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to ethical standards in all tasks.
- Additional Duties: Take on other assignments as directed by finance leadership.
