We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Audit and Assurance Department at a medium-sized Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firm. The Staff Accountant will play a key role in performing audit, review, and compilation engagements and assisting with financial statement preparation for clients, including construction contractors, government contractors, and other private businesses. Responsibilities: Audit, Review, and Compilation Engagements: Assist in planning and executing audit engagements, including risk assessments, testing internal controls, and analyzing financial statements. Prepare and organize workpapers to support audit, review, and compilation conclusions and ensure compliance with professional standards. Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in drafting and finalizing financial statements, including disclosures, in accordance with GAAP or other relevant frameworks. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client requirements and professional standards. Client Interaction: Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, acting as a resource for routine questions and providing excellent customer service. Technical Skills: Research and apply relevant accounting, auditing, and reporting standards. Utilize accounting and audit software for data analysis, engagement tracking, and reporting. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with team members, including senior accountants and managers, to ensure successful completion of engagements. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 0-2 years of experience in public accounting, with exposure to audits, reviews, and compilations preferred. CPA certification in progress preferred; intention to pursue CPA required. Familiarity with accounting audit tools (e.g., CaseWare, CCH, or similar) is a plus. Government contracting, nonprofit, and/or construction accounting experience is a plus. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
