The Staff Accountant, under the supervision of the Assistant Controller, will be responsible for the processing of Accounts Payable, as well as other daily and monthly tasks in the department. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Input invoices into the A/P software and ensure proper coding and input for amounts, sales tax, and general ledger for all vendors paid. Research and resolve monthly vendor statements and invoice discrepancies. Ensure invoices of thirty days or more are verified for previous payment. Responsible for adding new vendors and maintaining existing vendors in the A/P software. This includes making sure all W-9's are received, 1099 codes for vendors are correct, and all new vendors are verified against vendor management's list of approved vendors. Verify, prepare, and mail all accounts payable expense checks to the appropriate payees. Maintain A/P files and various daily, weekly, and monthly A/P-related spreadsheets and reports. Prepare general ledger account reconciliations on a daily and/or monthly basis, which includes the daily cashier's check recs and various monthly Balance Sheet recs. Decision the daily Positive Paychecks that are presented for payment, as well as handling any exception items. Assist with general ledger and customer account research as needed. Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures Provide general support to all areas of the Finance Department and perform additional duties as assigned. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred, but not required. Understanding of Accounting principles. Minimum of one-year work experience. Skills and Abilities Analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication (oral and written). Detailed Oriented and highly organized. Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
