Our client, an esteemed nonprofit organization in the Bronx is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Staff Attorney to join its team and help champion housing rights for low-income families. Key Responsibilities: Client Advocacy: Counsel clients and assist them in maintaining their housing, ensuring they receive the support they need. Court Representation: Handle non-payment and holdover proceedings in court, represent tenants at trial, and manage litigation before administrative agencies. Outreach & Education: Conduct workshops, trainings, and community outreach to educate and empower tenants. Legal Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents, motions, and agreements, and assess the merits of cases assigned by the court or referred clients. What We're Looking For: Educational Background: J.D. from an ABA Accredited Law School. Experience: Prior litigation and landlord-tenant experience are a plus. Knowledge: Familiarity with NYC housing law and public benefits is advantageous. Skills: Excellent communication, research, organizational, and writing skills. Ability to handle stress and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Team Player: Strong team-building skills and the ability to work independently. Passion: A demonstrated commitment to public interest law and social justice. Language: Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
