Our client, a leading public power provider in the Pacific Northwest, is seeking a Staff Counsel or Senior Counsel to join their legal team. What you'll do:
- Provide legal counsel and support on nuclear licensing and regulatory compliance, including responding to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) investigations and enforcement actions
- Assist company on all legal and regulatory aspects associated with the development of a new nuclear facility
- Oversee and manage the company's compliance with environmental, ethics, industrial safety, and employment regulations
- Lead the company's legal strategy for handling Washington State Public Records Act (PRA) requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses
- Protect the organization's interests in contract claims, administrative hearings, and legal disputes, including managing litigation with external counsel
- Advise leadership and staff on policy and operational legal matters, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements
- Participate in the development of energy-related transactions and serve as a team member in strategic planning
What you will need:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school
- 2-7 years of experience practicing law, with at least 2 years in the nuclear industry
- Experience in nuclear regulatory compliance, including NRC investigations or enforcement matters
