POSITION SUMMARY:
The Staffing Development Coordinator (SDC) is responsible for educational programs of nursing staff and non-nursing staff which are designed to meet resident care demands. The SDC is responsible for determining educational needs of staff, coordinating programs based on identified needs, and ensuring compliance with all State and Federal guidelines for in-service education and new employee orientation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assesses, plans, and implements educational programs based on the needs of staff.
Collaborates with the Assistant Business Office Manager and/or Business Office Manager and assists with the administration of new hire employee orientation.
Establishes the monthly schedule of in-services based upon staff and resident requirements.
Assists Administrator and Director of Nursing with preparation for annual survey.
Participates in annual survey process, directing staff in matters of conduct and disclosure, is present at all times when surveyors are on-site and directs the timely collection of information required by the survey team.
Uses principles of adult education to encourage learning opportunities for staff.
Maintains complete records of in-services, attendance, objectives, outlines, and evaluation of individual learning. Prepares written lesson plans to include behavioral objectives.
Arranges nursing skills assessments for Charge Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants.
Collaborates and assists the Director of Nursing with the skills assessment and job specific orientation of nursing management positions.
Assists as the infection control nurse.
Tracks and administers PPDs for staff and new hires.
Tracks and administers HBV for all facility staff and new hires.
Conducts interviews for nursing staff needs and completes new hire paperwork.
Conducts general orientation program and updates program as needed. Assists appropriate personnel and floor staff in hands-on orientation process.
Tracks licenses, certifications, and CPR certifications of all nursing and other licensed staff to ensure all licensed/certified staff are active and in good standing.
Heads recruitment and retention for the facility and works closely with appropriate personnel to identify nursing staff needs/vacancies.
Assists as needed with direct patient care, administers medications and specialized treatments and diet as prescribed to residents according to physician orders and in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
Receives and gives a comprehensive report on all residents.
Provides assistance to the Director of Nursing when needed.
Serves as acting Director of Nursing Services when designated.
Complies with the facility's privacy practices/procedures and all state/federal privacy laws as outlined by HIPAA related to resident and employee records, to include but not limited to information accessed through any company web-based system and/or electronic medical records.
Demonstrates teamwork and prompt and regular attendance to work to ensure that quality care and services are provided to the residents.
Complies with and adheres to the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the Bloodborne Pathogens Standards. Protective Personal Equipment (PPE), including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, extremities, protective clothing, and protective shield and barriers, will be provided, used, and maintained.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May supervise staff in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the facility's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must possess, at a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved RN program.
Clinical experience with an ongoing interest and enthusiasm for creating educational programs that address the unique issues associated with care of the elderly.
