Job Summary
This position is responsible for directing and coaching the college's men's & women's tennis programs within the Department of Athletics. This is a position of trust.
Responsibilities
* Plans and manages practices.
* Recruits student athletes to fill complete team rosters (detailed enrollment goals provided by the AD).
* Schedules competition.
* Manages competitive events; schedules officials; directs the preparation of facilities.
* Monitors the academic progress of student athletes.
* Teaches student athletes the fundamentals of the sports.
* Fundraising and promotions.
* Budget Management.
* Attends staff meetings.
* Performs related duties.
* Oversee any related camps.
* Provides safe transportation of East Georgia State College students in the approved fleet or rental vehicle.
* Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
* Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a associate degree,
* Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the varying objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require some related college level experience.
* Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Knowledge of NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association), GCAA (Georgia College Athletic Association), and NIRSA (National Intramural & Recreational Sports Association) rules and regulations.
* Knowledge of institutional policy and procedures including but not limited to Human Resources, Business Office policies concerning purchasing and travel requirements.
* Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.
* Knowledge of rules and procedures for corresponding sports.
* Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
* Skill in the coaching and training of student athletes.
* Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
* Skill in oral and written communication.
