Job Description :
Under the supervision of the principal investigator, investigate how exosomes, genetic background, and sex differences (among others) influence the mitochondrial (dys)function in the neurodegenerative disorder FXTAS.Apply By Date 11/29/2024 by 11:59 pm Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
  • Major, MS or PhD in biological sciences, or a related field
  • Previous working experience working in a research laboratory (3-4 years minimum).
  • Previous experience working with human data and specimens.
  • Outstanding and demonstrated communication, interpersonal, and scientific writing skills
  • Expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology.

  • Ability to work in a collegial team setting.A strong commitment to research excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in cell biology, mitochondrial biology, or quantitative analyses

Department Overview The Department of Molecular Biosciences serves at the academic home for all nutritional, physiological chemistry and pharmacologic and toxicologic programs of the School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. Our goal is to study fundamental biological processes and their pertubations by mutations, nutrition, drugs and xenobiotis and the application of these to the improvement of animal and human health. Faculty participate in a number of graduate groups including Genetics, Microbiology, Neurosciences, Nutritional Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology, and Pharmacology & Toxicology. The department also contributes substantially to school and campus initiatives in Environmental and Human Health. Faculty include toxicologists at the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System (CAHFS) and provide expertise for the Equine Analytical Program of the State of California. The department also shares responsibility for the Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Toxicology, and Clinical Nutritional Programs, including the Nutrition Service at the VMTH.POSITION INFORMATION
