Job Description :

Our mission is to inspire entrepreneurs and shoppers to find something new. We buy great brands built on Shopify, unlocking liquidity for small business entrepreneurs looking to start new adventures. We manage nearly 50 brands with over 100,000 products across apparel, beauty, home goods, and electronics. Our team of e-commerce experts and engineers uses our proprietary technology and tooling, and advantages from our size, to grow our brands at scale. Two million people have purchased OpenStore products, and soon, we'll launch a consumer shopping app, helping people discover products in an all-new way. OpenStore was started in 2021 by top investor and operator, Keith Rabois, a former executive at PayPal, LinkedIn, and Square, and a co-founder of Opendoor. We are backed with $150M+ from world-class investors such as Atomic, Khosla Ventures, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, and Lux Capital. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY: Join OpenStore as a Staff Software Engineer where you'll play a crucial role in shaping and building our e-commerce platform. You will be immersed in ambitious projects that challenge and enhance your engineering craftsmanship and excellence. Collaborate with a team of exceptional engineers to define and execute the technical aspects of our vision. Work closely with engineers of all levels and contribute to building the best e-commerce engine in the world. WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Take initiative in identifying and exploiting opportunities that significantly benefit the company.
  • Design, develop, ship, and maintain complex systems independently and/or alongside other engineers as peers
  • Contribute to the future architecture of key systems and frameworks, balancing innovation and reliability.
  • Help develop a technical vision and roadmap that generate massive business value and optionality for our cross-functional teams and contribute to such across the entire company.
  • Identify and bring to life tools and over forms of leverage to be consumed by the company; including helping to decide when to build systems to increase our in-house leverage versus selecting from externally available 3rd party tools
  • Partner with and wear multiple hats across product, design, engineering and operations
WHO YOU ARE:
  • You like to build and ship. You value iteration, speed and progress over perfection. You choose to be optimistic but have a plan. You think strategically about prioritization while constantly delivering to unlock feedback and new directions.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments. You are highly self motivated to do right by those internal and external and foster a growth mentality to achieve both.
  • You are analytically rigorous. You have a bias towards using data and analyses to make decisions. You have interest in measuring the performance of your features and understanding their contribution to company KPIs.
  • You are collaborative, organized, and thoughtful. You actively solicit feedback and are flexible to getting things done individually or through teammates you influence. You embrace intellectual rigor as a feature of improvement, not a relationship bug.
  • You are curious: You possess a desire to learn and explore new ideas. You like to ask insightful questions and explore innovative solutions. You are not satisfied with surface-level answers, but like to uncover underlying principles and insights.
  • You are an owner: You take full responsibility for your work. You see challenges as opportunities and take initiative to drive results. Your focus is not only on fulfilling your role but also on contributing to the broader goals and success of the team. You proactively identify issues, propose solutions, and follow through to ensure successful outcomes.
WHAT YOU HAVE:
  • 8+ years of prior software engineering experience
