As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design of content creation systems and integrating with industry leading technologies that empower LinkedIn to create world-class content at scale. You will directly impact our Learning, Editorial, and internal Media Productions products.Responsibilities:Design, develop, and integrate cutting-edge software technologies. Act as primary management interface and escalation for all product system related issues.You will develop multi-tier scalable, high-volume performing, and reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7 enabling Studio Content Creators to rapidly create content at the same time remaining constantly available and performant to users.You will produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.Provide technical leadership in directing the efforts of the team in the development and production release of all relevant engineering deliverables in compliance with the product development process and customer expectations.Ensure that: engineering targets (quality, delivery timing, performance, engineering budget, etc.) for engineering deliverables are met; product development is aligned with architecture approaches; design reviews are completed and productive; the quality of all team deliverables meet standards and timing; any required cross-functional design reviews or data sharing is completed.You will provide technical leadership, driving and performing best engineering practices to initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross functional, and company-wide critical programs. Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity.You will scale distributed applications, make architectural trade-offs applying synchronous and asynchronous design patterns, write code, and deliver with speediness and quality.Provide the technical platform for all of LinkedIn Media Content Engineering to build services in order to scale our media portfolio worldwide.Provide mentorship both internally and invest in organizational activities such as promotion committees and hiring committees.Participate in a 12x7 oncall rotation with other members of the US-based team.Basic Qualifications:BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.4+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.4+ years programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, Javascript, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Ruby, etcPreferred Qualifications:Experience in media workflows including capture technology, encoding services such as FFMPEG, and Media Asset ManagementExperience with integrating and automating for post-production systems including Adobe Creative CloudBS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 4+ years of relevant work experience.Experience in designing and building infrastructure and web services at large scale.Expert knowledge of computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design.Proven coding skills in Python or JavaScript/AJAX, database design and SQL, and/or knowledge of TCP/IP and network programming.Experience building web applications and services with IDEs, ant, junit, etc.Experience with relational databases (transactional and non-transactional), database architecture, and distributed transaction management.Suggested Skills:Technical LeadershipArchitectural MasteryCode Review and Quality AssuranceAdvanced Security PracticesMentoring and Knowledge SharingYou will Benefit from our CultureWe strongly believe in the well-being of our employees and their families. The pay range for this role is $147,000 - $240,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
