Description
The function of the Staffing Coordinator is to schedule and maintain staffing levels that meet both budgetary expectations and census levels. The Staffing Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Nursing to ensure coordination of information and maintain accuracy of the nursing schedule. The Staffing Coordinator will also assist with ordering lab supplies, educating and monitoring staff on correctly completing lab forms, and being a point of contact for the lab service providers. Staffing Coordinator will assist as needed with patient psychoeducational groups.
+ Manage the nursing department schedule for all nursing staff under supervision of the Director of Nursing. This would include the positions of Mental Health Techs, LPNs, and RNs
+ Meets with the Director of Nursing on a regular basis to maintain a regular line of communication about the scheduling of staff, safety and functioning of the units as well as the nursing staff on the units
+ Monitors and coordinates census management for each unit. Utilizes census data to establish proper staffing levels
+ Assists in the responsibility of tracking and completing attendance policy breeches
+ Schedules staff vacations according to guidelines in the personnel policies and the DONs direction
+ Forward paid time off requests to payroll
+ Participates in nursing performance reviews as it relates to employee attendance
+ Tracks and communicates attendance issues and concerns to DON
+ Respects the confidentiality and dignity of staff
+ Manager of lab supplies- orders lab supplies and keep units stocked with needed supplies
+ Ensures lab results are printed in a timely manner and placed on patient charts
+ Educate staff on new forms and procedures for the lab service providers
+ Transport stat labs if transport is not available
+ Maintains the schedule for all nursing staff on all units for all shifts in a correct, appropriate and organized fashion according to the matrix
+ Logs all call-ins, tardies and other breaches in attendance policies
+ Communicate with DON any issues with attendance and scheduled overtime
+ Assist with scheduling employees for training to ensure employee compliance with CPI and CPR certifications
+ Maintain an accurate and updated listing of all nursing staff phone numbers
+ Ensure the proper material for lab draws are on each unit and educate staff on how to print lab results and place on the charts
+ Assist with patient Psychoeducation groups as needed
