Job Summary:

The Stamping Tool Maker is responsible for maintaining, rebuilding, modifying, and fabricating replacement parts for assigned tools, adhering to established quality and time standards. This role requires troubleshooting capabilities and support for the pressroom as necessary.

Essential Functions:

Reporting: Directly reports to the Tool Maintenance Manager, receiving and executing delegated tasks.

Inspection: Conduct part, strip, component, and tool inspections to ensure quality standards are met.

Maintenance: Perform unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting of tools as required.

Process Improvement: Collaborate with management to identify and implement continuous process improvements.

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints or follow verbal/written instructions to produce or fit parts.

Precision Measurement: Utilize precision measuring and gauging tools for inspecting work before, during, and after machining.

Fabrication: Execute hand operations to produce jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies, ensuring they meet specifications.

Assembly: Fit and assemble jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies, and troubleshoot issues to trace and correct difficulties.

Stamping & Grinding: Operate a dry manual surface grinder; grind carbide and tool steel to tight tolerances ( .0001).

Additional Responsibilities:

- Update shop prints and tool maintenance cards, documenting work performed and hours expended.

- Maintain daily time sheets for tool maintenance cost analysis.

- Keep equipment and work areas clean and maintained.

- Collaborate with product designers to provide insights on manufacturing capabilities for new products.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

- Adhere to safety policies and use protective equipment as required.

Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Strong attention to detail and precision in all work.

- Ability to operate machinery safely, with an understanding of safety protocols.

- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members and management.

- Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or a five-year in-company training program.

- Journey-level machinists may qualify for the Tool and Die rate after one additional year of approved training.

- 3-5 years of experience operating surface grinders, with a focus on carbide and tool steel grinding.

Safety and Compliance:

- Comply with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 standards.

- Adhere to the company's Quality Program and safety protocols, including MSDS guidelines.
