Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for providing clerical support for programming and activities, greeting patrons, answering multi-line phone, assisting in administration, scheduling, and operation. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to, providing direction to staff, assisting with recreational program implementation and reporting, planning special events, providing instruction to participants, cash handling and daily reporting, excellent communication skills, miscellaneous daily paperwork, general clean up and custodial duties.

Directs non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation:

Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.

Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.

Duties/Responsibilities

* Assist with planning and managing front desk, Registration Processes and Event Rentals, including, but not limited to Afterschool Program, Summer Camp, Special Events or community Outreach.

* Assist with program marketing material, provide reports for attendance and/or roster information.

* Provide information and instruction to clients with respect to buildings, facilities, and programs.

* Responsible for security and closing building.

* Responsible for cash handling

* Provide instruction for recreational and/or athletic activity.

* Perform custodial duties, as needed.

* Required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of assigned tasks.

* This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Skilled to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

* Skill to make sound judgment.

* Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.

* Ability to operate necessary equipment including but not limited to, computer, telephone sporting equipment, and copier.

* Ability to lift and rescue swimmers who are in need of assistance.

* Ability to work in heat, humidity, wetness, and around noise, fumes and odors

Minimum Requirements

* High school diploma or GED.

* Two (2) years of experience in a related field; and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Must be at least 21 years of age.

* Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.

* Must obtain CPR, AED and First Aid Training Certification within twelve months of hire date.

When assigned to working with Youth, must meet the Department of Children and Families (DCF) requirements and inspections.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

This work typically requires the following physical activities to be performed.

* Balancing - maintain equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching.

* Climbing - ascending, descending ladders, stairs, ramps, requires body agility.

* Crawling - moving about on hands, knees, or hands, feet.

* Crouching - bending body forward by bending leg, spine.

* Feeling - perceiving attributes of objects by touch with skin, fingertips.

* Fingering - picking, pinching, typing, working with fingers rather than hand.

* Grasping - applying pressure to object with fingers, palm.

* Handling - picking, holding, or working with whole hand.

* Hearing 1 - perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, receive information.

* Pushing - use upper extremities to press against objects with force, or thrust forward, downward, outward.

* Reaching - extending hands or arms in any direction.

* Repetitive Motion - substantial movements of wrists, hands, fingers.

* Speaking - expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely.

* Standing - for sustained periods of time.

* Stooping - bending body downward, forward at waist, with full motion of lower extremities and back.

Work performed is primarily:

* Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

* Frequently have exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures, wetness, humidity, toxic or caustic chemicals, noise, dust, wind, and sun.

* Contact with internal and external customers, vendors, outside agencies and the general public.

* May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
